Search Marketing

Most recently, I've taken over MCM's search marketing effort, specializing in paid advertising, comparison shopping site feeds and on site optimization. Since taking this position, I was able to optimize MCM's effort greatly. SEO indexed pages increased by over 75%, SEO and PPC revenue by nearly 100%. These channels drive over half of MCM's web traffic and are growing month by month.

I've continued to help better the MCM web UX and implement functionality changes, but have stopped supporting the look and feel of the website for the most part. Additionally, I still freelance when the opportunity arrises.

Web Design

After working with the ad department for several years, I moved to the eCommerce department working as a front-end web developer, specializing in GUI and UX development. I helped maintain MCM's original ecommerce website, created two revisions of said site, as well as many extranet and micro-sites, keeping them all consistent with the industry's best coding practices.

As resources were limited at the time, I was quickly learning to be a "jack of all trades", doing everything from front end design and coding with XHTML, javascript and CSS, to backend coding with PHP and ASP.NET, to running the company forum and managing web based product content. This was an exciting time for me; rarely was there a dull day.

In addition, during this time, I held positions on a global team which helped to bring Premier Farnell - our parent company - to the forefront of technology, striving to equip our employees with the most technologically advanced tools to aid them in being more efficient.

Print Design

I was selected to temp at MCM in the ad department as a graphic designer. I helped to bring MCM's catalog, flyer and other print production in house, as well as define the look and feel of our print initiative at the time. I worked on MCM's tradeshow displays and packaging materials in addition to standard print collateral.

SAA Logo

I enrolled in and attended the School of Advertising Art's Associates program and studied under award winning professors including, but not limited the world famous-ish Mike Bonilla, Dan Johnson and Steve Rumbaugh. I learned a lot about a lot at SAA; from print to interactive media, but strongly favored web design. In the end I graduated with strong scores and a Associate Degree of Applied Business in Advertising Art, Design/Communications.

Still in Dayton, I went to Miamisburg High Shool. I took every art class they offered at least once. Upon graduation, I won the 'top-two' award, which is awarded to - you guessed it - the top two artists in the class. Lindsey Kellis Meredith was the other winner.

Throughout highschool, I was involved in many freelance projects for mostly non-profit organisations such as The Experi-Center and The Trotwood Chamber of Commerce.

Little Airplane

I was born in PA, but moved to Dayton, OH when I was young. My grandpa was an naval aviator and took me to the Wright Pat Air Force Base every time he came to visit. I started drawing pictures of all kinds of planes at a young age. That's about all I did, striving to reach the level of detail seen in books like Fighting Aircraft of World War II. Planes were sweet.
